Benefit from a session Osteopathy in Monaco
I welcome you to the Centre Paramédical in the heart of Fontvieille in Monaco for osteopathic sessions. I will adapt to your needs and use gentle techniques to help you deal with the various ailments and disorders affecting your body.
What is osteopathy osteopathy?
Originating in the 19th century following the precepts of the American therapist Andrew Taylor Still, osteopathy is a manual therapeutic practice that considers the body as a whole to ensure it functions properly.
It looks for the origin of the pain, without treating only the painful area: a backache can thus have its source in a digestive problem. No medication is prescribed or administered. Only the practitioner’s hands are used to remove blockages and resolve the body’s problems.
An osteopathic session lasts 45 minutes, divided between a series of questions to make an initial diagnosis (the anamnesis), osteopathic tests to confirm the diagnosis and the actual corrective manipulations.
what are the differences between osteopathy and physiotherapy?
The main difference between these two disciplines, both practised at our Fontvieille Paramedical Centre, is their approach to the patient.
The physiotherapist will focus exclusively on treating the part of the patient’s body that has suffered trauma, while the osteopath considers the body as a whole to find the root cause of the pain and restore full mobility. Physiotherapy combines manual techniques and the use of equipment to facilitate re-education, while osteopathy is practised exclusively through manipulation. The two disciplines are therefore complementary!
In practical terms, to consult a physiotherapist you will need a prescription from your doctor, unlike an osteopath, who is free to consult.

Preventive treatment
It is important to seek osteopathic advice even before you feel any pain. An osteopathic check-up involves identifying and treating areas of tension or restricted mobility, with the aim of preventing the pain that may occur as a result of the accumulation of these blockages.
It is recommended that you have this check-up about once or three times a year, depending on your lifestyle (work, stress, sport, diet, age, lifestyle, etc.).
This regular osteopathic check-up is particularly important if you practice sport, whatever your level.

osteopathic techniques
Visceral osteopathy
It’s essential: many complaints and pains originate in the stomach. Cramps, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, heartburn, but also back pain, given that the organs are closely linked to the spinal column! So I take the time to make sure that everything is working properly at visceral level, and in particular on three levels:
- Mechanical : the viscera are supposed to be coordinated with the spinal column and follow all its movements. However, there can be blockages that disrupt the movements of certain areas and put more strain on others, as part of our body’s compensation system. These blockages and adhesions are often synonymous with pain.
- Vascular : the visceral area is particularly well supplied with blood thanks to the aorta and femoral arteries. It is therefore important to be vigilant about blood circulation problems, which can lead to dysfunction and pain.
- Neurological : many nerve control centres are located within the viscera. After all, isn’t the intestine known as the ‘second brain’? It can transmit neurological information to the spinal cord, creating what is known as projected pain.
Professional advice
visceral osteopathy, when emotions affect the body. emotions have an effect on our bodies.
All our organs are surrounded and protected by membranes that attach them to the spine and skeleton. These membranes are of the ligament type and retract when our body feels ‘attacked’ or in danger in order to protect the organs and viscera. This may be due to a physical or psychological shock.
This retraction causes tension that acts on the skeleton and can create all kinds of pain. Lumbar, back, cervical, shoulders, knees… but also organic, digestive, cardiac problems…
It is therefore essential to restore mobility through osteopathic manipulation, but also to combat stress.
Structural osteopathy
Also known as musculoskeletal osteopathy, this technique focuses primarily on the bones, muscles and joints. This technique focuses on certain rapid manipulations known as trusts or HVBAs (High Velocity Low Amplitude). It is these movements that are responsible for the famous cracking sounds, which may be impressive but are totally painless and harmless.
Functional osteopathy
These techniques are highly effective in treating a range of disorders. They address the whole body, from back pain to cardiovascular or digestive symptoms. In particular, they stimulate the body's natural self-healing capacities. The osteopath simply guides the body in the right direction to restore all its functions naturally.
Cranial osteopathy
Osteopathic manipulation of the bones of the skull is highly effective in releasing tension and facilitating blood circulation. A number of ailments can be treated using this technique, including vertigo, migraines, tinnitus and ear infections.
osteopathy to combat infertility
Not being able to conceive a child when you have decided to do so is a major difficulty for a couple.
When the medical examinations of both partners are normal and do not reveal the cause of infertility, osteopathy can help. Tensions, particularly in the sacrum and ligaments of the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries, can disrupt the maintenance and proper vascularisation of the foetus. In this case, the body will not be ready to welcome the future baby. Manipulation of these areas to release these tensions will enable the body to regain good conditions for welcoming and developing the foetus.
This will give you the best possible chance of conceiving your future baby.
